Hello and thank you for taking a moment to visit my site.

My name is j thomas, an artist inspired by a full life well lived and traveled.

Years of classes and workshops at the National Academy of Design (former board member) and the Art Students League of New York provided the foundation of my artistic education and training. I will always be grateful to those gifted instructors that provided me encouragement and shared their knowledge with tremendous patience.

Immersed in the art experience during my many years living in Paris, the works of Cezanne, Derain and Hammershoi truly made an impact on my approach to painting and what would eventually become my style.

The majority of my works are originals, however many are personal adaptations and interpretations of great artists before me, I only hope I have done them justice.

My objective is to capture the interplay of object, light, and design to create harmonious, quiet, and thoughtful works that focus on the “conversation” between art and space.

Each work needs to hold its own while belonging together in a balanced composition.

Hopefully attaining a quiet, thoughtful and artistic work.
